Taking Care of Darker Hardwood Floors

Taking Care of Darker Hardwood Floors
If you have darker hardwood floors, you will want to make sure they are well-maintained.

While you have many options when it comes to
the flooring in your home, you can’t go wrong with
darker hardwood floors. However, there are some maintenance challenges that you
might not have to deal with when you choose other types of floors. Here is a
guide on how to take care of your hardwood floors.

The Wood and the Stain

Some species of wood are darker than others.
You can also choose to use a darker stain on your floors as well. The choice is
yours. Choosing a darker wood can be more expensive, so you might want to
choose the darker stain instead. Dark heartwood is much rarer than other types
of heartwood. Still, the lighter wood given a darker stain is more prone to
show scratches, dents, and other signs of damage. some of the flooring options
you have at this point include black walnut, mahogany, Brazilian Cherry, and
Jarrah.

The Finish

No matter which type of floor you choose, the finish that goes with it is still important.
You’ll see dust and footprints build up, both of which will ruin the aesthetics
of the darker hardwood. Keeping your floors clean will help them last longer.
Even if you have a full house, there are many different ways to make sure that
your floors remain beautiful. One of these is choosing the right lighting for
the room.

The Lighting

Natural light isn’t kind to darker floors, so
you’ll have to think about what lighting is available for the rooms where you have darker hardwood floors.
