Hardwood Flooring Care Tips for Summer

Hardwood Flooring Care Tips for Summer

Working with hardwood flooring experts that you can put your trust in
will go a long towards making sure that your floors last.

Taking care of your hardwood floors is a huge responsibility. No matter where they are, it’s up to you to keep them looking as beautiful as ever. Working with hardwood flooring experts that you can put your trust in
will go a long towards making sure that your floors last. In the meantime, here are some of the considerations you need to account for whenever your floors
need maintenance.

Keep Out of Sunlight

One of the most important things to remember is that sunlight can do a massive amount of damage. Think about how it can affect your skin if you are out in the sun for too long without sunscreen – you would get sunburned. Something similar can happen to your floors because even though they are engineered to be durable, in some ways they are still delicate. One of the most common signs that something has happened to your floors is that they start to change color. Use blinds and curtains to help block the sunlight from getting into your home. While allowing more natural light into your home is always a good thing, doing this can also help you keep your home cooler and reduce your reliance on running the air conditioner all the time.

The Humidity in Your Home

Keeping the humidity levels in check can also
help prevent swelling and warping. If you have been suffering through the heat and have started
using a dehumidifier, then that could turn out to be one of the best decisions
you’ve ever made.

Adding Door Mats

Think about your house rules, especially for visitors. One of those requests could be that everyone takes their shoes off once they enter. Before they go into the wider house, they should at least wipe their feet. This rule can have some exceptions, but in general, adding doormats can make a bigger difference than you realize.

Adding an Outdoor Shower

Depending on the landscape around the exterior
of your home, adding an outdoor shower could make a difference as well. This
means that you can rinse off sand, dirt, or dust that could be stuck to you
after being outside – whether or not you live by the beach or are coming back
from the waterfront.
