Tools & Products You Should Have to Keep Your Wood Floors Clean

Jason Brown Wood Floors Keep Wood Floors Clean

There are some products you should have on hand in order to keep your wood floors clean and undamaged.

Whether you’re the proud owner of brand new wood floors, you have original wood floors in an older home you’ve just purchased, or you simply have had wood floors for several years and are wondering what tools and products you should have on hand to care for them, this list has you covered.

Vacuum

It is still sometimes common for people to think that vacuums are only for carpeted homes and rooms. While a vacuum is incredibly useful for keeping carpets clean, it is also handy for cleaning your wood floors. It is great for doing a quick once-over to pull up dust and debris. Just remember to only use vacuums with no bristles to avoid leaving fine scratch marks all over your beautiful wood floors.

Mop

Wood floors are vulnerable to water damage, so a mop with an absorbent microfiber pad is the preferred method of mopping. You will want to use minimal water, and the microfiber pad will be best for pulling up dust, dirt, and debris from the floor.

Wood Floor Cleaner

One product you can use along with your mop is a good wood floor cleaner. There are a lot of different wood floor cleaners on the market, so it’s important to read the labels and choose carefully before deciding which one will work best for your floor. Doing your research will lower your risk of accidentally damaging your floor. Just make sure whatever you use is specially made for wood flooring!

Broom & Dustpan

Of course, every uncarpeted floor will benefit from regular sweeping. Get a soft-bristled broom that won’t scratch the finish of your wood floors, and give them a sweep whenever necessary. This is useful for regular general cleaning, but of course, having a broom and dustpan on hand will also allow you to sweep up spilled items, dirt, pet fur, and other debris that can muck up the look of your beautiful floor.
