Must-Have Safety Gear for A Floor Installation

Must-Have Safety Gear for A Floor Installation

Wearing the proper safety gear while commencing a new flooring installation.

Whether you are installing wood flooring, laminates, vinyl, tile, or carpet, it is important to have the necessary equipment for completing the job. A part of that equipment consists of safety gear. Wearing the proper safety gear while commencing a new flooring installation will not only make your job easier but ensure your safety as you pursue the job. Listed below is the necessary gear for keeping you safe during a floor installation.

Safety Goggles

Wearing safety goggles is key to avoiding unexpected eye injuries. It’s important to always put on protective goggles while working on a floor installation and when being in the area of an active flooring job. Considering that eye injuries are unexpected, you never know when a piece of the material may come flying into your eye, and as they say, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Mask

Having to wear a dust mask or, in some cases, a vapor respirator may seem like a lot. Still, protecting your respiratory system from the dust and fumes produced during a flooring installation is necessary.

Knee Pads

Knee pads are handy in protecting your knees from the pain and strain that can follow during and after a flooring installation. There’s a variety of kneepads to choose from. However, for a more comfortable experience, it is best to buy contractor-grade knee pads made of cloth that can adjust to fit you.

Having the Right Shoes

Wearing work safety boots is the best way to ensure your feet are protected. However, other closed-toe shoes that are slip-resistant, capable of resisting compression, and providing comfort are also suitable for the job. It is recommended to choose shoes that have enough cushion, are comfortable, slip-resistant, and most importantly, provide enough protection to your feet.

Gloves

Not only do your feet need protection, but so do your hands and fingers. The best gloves to provide protection are heavy gloves with reinforced fingertips. Wearing gloves can protect your hand and fingers from bruises, cuts, chemicals, and adhesives. If you don’t feel comfortable suiting up in any of these different types of equipment for a floor installation, get in touch with our professional team for the job!
