Choosing Your Flooring Installer

Choosing Your Flooring Installer

You will want to make sure your installer has the knowledge and experience to install a floor that will look beautiful and last to its full potential.

Is it time for some new flooring in your home? If it is, you have probably started the search for the right flooring installer. You will want to make sure your installer has the knowledge and experience to install a floor that will look beautiful and last to its full potential. Here are 3 of the most important aspects to look at when choosing your flooring installer!

Experience

Believe it or not, there is more than one “right” way to install new hardwood floors. Different methods will work better for different projects. These subtle differences could mean the difference between a new floor lasting 15 years or 30. The type of wood can also make a significant difference. Only an experienced installer who already has many satisfied customers will have the knowledge to make sure your new floors are perfect.

Preparation

When it is time to install your new hardwood, the planks can’t simply be laid down and nailed into place. If that were the case, then there wouldn’t even be professional installers! Before the planks even go into your home your installers will need to do some preparing. If the humidity level in your home is too high, that can cause the wood to become swollen during installation. Once the swelling goes down, there would be large gaps between the flooring planks. To combat this, they would use a dehumidifier to pull moisture out of the air until humidity levels are lower.

Attention to Detail

When a new floor is installed, more than just the flooring needs to be considered. Other parts of the home’s design need to be taken into consideration, such as doorways. The flooring will need to be cut in just the right way that it fits the doorframes in just the right way.

A professional installer will also know how to keep the work area clean. Old flooring will need to be properly disposed of, unless you’ve chosen to recycle it for something. Usually, this means that there would be multiple trips to the county dump, but the real pros know to hire a roll-away dumpster!
